At SBS, <\/span>innovation and sustainability are what drive us<\/strong>. That\u2019s why we\u2019re proud to be part of the <\/span>Basque Industrial Hub for Circularity (BIH4C)\u2014a major European project aimed at accelerating the <\/span>decarbonisation of the Basque industrial sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The BIH4C initiative<\/span> is part of the IS2H4C project<\/span> (\u201cSustainable Circular Economy Transition: from Industrial Symbiosis to Hubs for Circularity<\/strong>\u201d<\/i>), led by the University of Twente<\/span> in the Netherlands. The project\u2019s mission is to pave the way for the development of hubs for circularity<\/span>, based on the circularity and resilience needs<\/span> of current and future industrial areas and their surrounding ecosystems. Specifically, the Basque hub brings together the strengths of the region\u2019s innovation ecosystem, with the clear goal of advancing the decarbonisation of Basque industry<\/span>. This initiative is part of a broader effort that also includes the creation of three additional business hubs in Germany, the Netherlands, and Turkey<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The Basque hub of BIH4C<\/span> brings together leading industrial companies<\/strong> with the ambitious goal of implementing innovative sustainability systems<\/span> within the industry itself. To achieve this, the following objectives have been set:<\/p>\n

\"IS2H4C:
IS2H4C: European Project for Sustainability and Industrial Decarbonisation in the Basque Country<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
    \n
  • Reduce CO\u2082 emissions by 20% and <\/span>material resource consumption by 10% in the coming years.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Establish business synergies<\/span> to boost the circular economy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    More than just a project, the Basque BIH4C hub represents a vibrant ecosystem of innovation<\/span>.<\/p>\n

    \"We\u2019re
    Our colleagues Aitor Pablos and Mikel Errasti attended the launch event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

    SBS joins the BIH4C initiative with a strong commitment to creating value by collecting <\/span>alkaline waste from the steel industry and <\/span>carbonating it using CO\u2082 emissions from the lime industry. This approach pursues a dual objective:<\/span><\/p>\n

    – Significantly reduce CO\u2082 emissions<\/strong><\/span>, contributing to the fight against climate change.<\/p>\n

    – Valorise<\/strong> existing alkaline waste<\/span> from industry, promoting the circular economy and moving toward zero waste.<\/p>\n

    Led by Tecnalia<\/span>, the BIH4C hub will bring together eight key players from the Basque industrial ecosystem<\/span>: Spouted Bed Solutions, Calcinor, Sidenor, Lointek, Petronor Innovaci\u00f3n, Smurfit Kappa, Nortegas, and the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
