In this way, the valorised alkaline residues represent a major breakthrough for the cement industry, as they can be used as <strong>supplementary cementitious materials with a negative carbon impact<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>NEUSBED has the following environmental objectives:<\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">Contribute to reducing CO\u2082 emissions in the cement industry<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Decrease the consumption of raw materials such as cement and clinker<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p4\">In addition, the project aims to create new jobs through a business model based on the principles of the circular economy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">SBS is contributing to the project by providing its <a href=\"https:\/\/sbsprocess.com\/en\/heco-technology\/\">HECO (High Efficiency Contact) Technology<\/a> as the carbonation reactor. <b><\/b>This is a highly efficient and versatile gas-solid contact technology based on the spouted bed system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">NEUSBED is a clear example of collaboration between research, industry, and public institutions to drive circular economy and decarbonization efforts in the Basque Country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The project is co-funded by Ihobe through the 2020 call of the programme \u201cEcodesign, Demonstration Projects in Circular Economy and Strategic Eco-Innovation,\u201d under Line 2 \u2013 Strategic Eco-Innovation. It brings together the participation of SBS, TH COMPANY, REZOLA, and TECNALIA.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
